With the It’s Still Black History Month Premium Shirt and I love this past year’s global movement around the Black Lives Matter movement, and the increased emphasis on self-care as a vital tool for healing, Spalding’s TRIANGLE is truly medicine for the times. “We’re in a space in our world where we’re navigating the impact of the pandemic, anti-Black violence, civil unrest, and all those different elements,” explains Marisol Norris, director of music therapy at Drexel University, founder of the Black Music Therapy Network, and member of The Songwrights Apothecary Lab council.
“This kind of work is linked to questions of how do you hold some of the It’s Still Black History Month Premium Shirt and I love this tensions of experiences, and then also have this kind of radical hope within like the act of making music really amplifies that possibility? The creation and expression that’s inherently part of the process teaches us how to be in community with one another.” This summer in downtown New York City, Spalding will be offering The Songwrights Apothecary Lab’s inaugural in-person pop-up experience. “It’s going to be a physicalized space of the apothecary for gathering and witnessing how these conversations unfold and how the creation emerges,” she explains. “
